Academic Pathways for the Future: Preparing SCM Professionals @ Shandong Foreign Language Vocational Technology University

Dr Eugene WONG, Associate Professor and Associate Programme Director of the MSc in Global Supply Chain Management Programme at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, and his academic team were invited to visit Shandong Foreign Language Vocational Technology University (SFLVTU) on 25 October 2025 (Saturday).

During the visit, Dr WONG delivered a presentation titled “Academic Pathways for Future: Ready SCM Professionals” to more than 140 faculty and students, sharing insights on current trends and strategic insights in supply chain management. He explored in depth the cultivation of supply chain management talent and how to apply artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in end-to-end supply chains, helping participants deepen their understanding of the field.

Additionally, Dr WONG introduced the MSc in Global Supply Chain Management Programme (MSc-GSCM) offered by The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, which has been recognized in the QS International Trade Rankings (MBA and Master’s) for three consecutive years. The programme develops students to be managers with an analytical mindset who can utilise knowledge and advanced technologies in supply chain management. The comprehensive curriculum, diverse activities, opportunities to collaborate with industry, advanced computing laboratory equipment, and various scholarship opportunities piqued the interest of the students present.

We express our gratitude to President DU (杜琳校長),  Professor KONG (孔慶榮教授), Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President, and Ms CUI (崔萍副校長), Vice President, from the SFLVTU. Dr WONG and his team engaged in substantive and in-depth discussions with the SFLVTU on topics such as academic collaboration, faculty exchange, and student capability enhancement, alongside Professor LI (李傑教授), Director of the Research Office and Dean of the School of Intelligent Science and Control Engineering, as well as Ms ZHANG  (張愛玲主任), Head of the International Business School. Dr WONG’s team also visited SFLVTU’s Centre of Teacher Development, Drone Studio, and E-commerce Live Streaming Training Room, further enhancing the understanding of the University.

This exchange achieved substantial progress in talent cultivation, research collaboration, and resource sharing, enhancing mutual understanding and contributing to the high-quality development of supply chain management education. At the end of the event, all participants took a group photo, marking a successful conclusion to this fruitful exchange activity.
