“Imperative Need of Land Logistics Industry in Northern Metropolis and Tuen Mun West” Press Conference

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK) and Policy Research Institute of Global Supply Chain (PRISC) have collaborated to conduct a study on the logistics land use in Hong Kong in early 2022. The team has published a report titled “Imperative Need of Land Logistics Industry in Northern Metropolis and Tuen Mun West” and conducted a press conference on 19th May 2022 in the Legislative Council Complex. Six newspaper articles were published in Wen Wei Po, Oriental Daily News, InMedia.net, Lion Rock Daily, and Hong Kong Economic Journal.

The press conference was chaired by Ir. Dr. Kelvin Leung, the Vice-President of CILTHK, co-hosted by Mr. Keno Cheung, Chairman of Logistics Policy Committee, CILTHK, and Ir. Dr. Eugene Wong, Director, PRISC. The findings of survey and recommendations have been presented in the press conference. The report urges the Hong Kong Government to allot sufficient land in the soon-to-be-developed Northern Metropolis and the Tuen Mun West for essential development of the Logistics Industry. All results and suggestions presented are consolidated from professional opinions of 200 industrial stakeholders.

The key points to the press conference are (1) the long-standing problems in the development of Logistics Industry, (2) the importance of imperative development of industrial land in Northern Metropolis and Tuen Mun West and, (3) recommendations on enhancing the competitiveness of the Logistics Industry as a key regional logistics hub in GBA.
