Dr HO To Sum, George received his PhD in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2007. During the years spent at PolyU, he has taught a number of academic subjects, including undergraduate and master programs, especially in Decision Analytics, System Simulation and Service Operations fields. A number of student projects under his supervision have been awarded in different competitions, such as CILTHK Logistics & Transport Student Final Year Project Award and GS1 RFID competition. He was also served as Vice President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (Hong Kong) (2014-2015).

He has also managed several ITF projects, collaborative projects and consultancy projects, with different commercial companies, namely MTR Corporation Limited, Pok Oi Hospital, and Sino Parking Services Limited. In 2015, one of his projects named “IoT-based Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation System” has won the “Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury”, and the “Thailand Award for Best International Invention from The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT)” in the 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. Besides, as an expertise in the Internet of Things (IoT) and “Smart City”.

During the years of research, he has published over 120 international journals and conference papers in well-known journals such as “International Journal of Production Economics”, “Decision Support Systems”, “Industrial Management and Data Systems”, “International Journal of Production Research”, and “Expert Systems with Application”; more than 70 of them are SCI/SSCI listed. He also scores an 25 h-index for publications. His specialty has made him serve as the Associate Editor for International Journal of Engineering Business Management, Editorial Board of International Journal of Manufacturing Engineering, and, involved in the committee member of Institute of Industrial Engineers (Hong Kong).
