Paul Cheng has
been serving in the aviation and related industry for over three
decades, mostly with airlines and airport. During his wide-ranging career, he has
built up knowledge and extensive experience in various business areas ranging
from airport operations & management, service delivery, and sales and
marketing, to business development. In addition to aviation, Paul also worked
in other areas including intercity rail, travel trade, freight forwarding and
overseas hotel property projects.
Paul is a member of
Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), Chartered Institute of Transport and
Logistics (CMILT) and Institute of Transport of Administration (MInstTA). He is also a Business Continuity Certified
Specialist (BCCS) of Business Continuity Management Institute. Paul holds both a
doctorate and Master of Business Administration. His doctoral dissertation
research paper explored the relevancy of liberalization of air
transport policy for the Hong Kong aviation market.
Paul has a great
passion to share his wealth of experience and knowledge in aviation. Over the years, he has been making
significant contributions in helping to train the next generation of industry
practitioners. He was appointed by the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council as
an External Examiner for their Aviation Management High Diploma Programme
between 2013 and 2019 and is the panel member for the programme revalidation of higher
education studies of the Hospitality Discipline in 2020. Paul has also been serving as a student
mentor for the School of Hotel & Tourism Management at the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University since 2005 and is the recipient of the 2018 Outstanding
Student Mentor Award. He is a part time lecturer at Royal Melbourne Institute
of Technology for their bachelor’s degree of Applied Science (Aviation)
delivered in Hong Kong. He has also been
an external speaker for Singapore Aviation Academy since 2013. Since October
2020, he has been serving on the Executive Board of the Hong Kong Air Cadet
Corp.
