Why Choose Our Programmes?

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong’s BMSIM and BBA-SCM Programmes are outstanding in comparison to other highly rated programmes for several reasons:

Expert Professors

Every class and lab we offer is taught by experienced faculty members who support and interact with students in small classes. Our full-time SCM faculty members have earned doctorate degrees from well-known local or overseas universities and have extensive teaching, research and industry experiences as well as strong industry connections.

State-of-the-art Laboratory

In addition to the campus computing labs and language centres, our students gain full access to the Decision Sciences Technology Laboratory (DST Lab).  This facility is designed to provide an accessible layout, friendly to creative engagement and group learning.  It provides all the most relevant industry standard and state-of-the-art software and hardware for conducting research projects and gaining hands-on technology experience.

Furthermore, the Virtual Reality and Big Data Analytics Centre (VRBD Centre) has been established to enhance development in teaching and research, with the support of a fully immersive and interactive visualisation system. This virtual reality system provides vivid stereoscopic 3D views of simulations and walkthroughs in disciplines such as supply chain operations, geometrical theory, financial modelling, healthcare logistics operations, and cultural preservation. The facilities enable learning individually and in groups a multidimensional and interactive way.

Professional Recognition

The BMSIM Programme is recognised by the Hong Kong Computer Society.  As such, our students become student members of this society. Our graduates become well-equipped in preparation for professional certification examinations, including Project Management, the SAS Professional Exam, CISA Certification Exam, Six Sigma Quality Management, Oracle Certified Professional and SAP Certification.

Graduates of the BBA-SCM Programme can apply for the membership of MEMBER of Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA) and The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport — Hong Kong (CILTHK), while BBA-SCM students can join HKLA, The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport — Hong Kong (CILTHK), Institute for Supply Management — Hong Kong (ISM-HK), Institute of Purchasing and Supply of Hong Kong (IPSHK) and Supply Chain Security Association as STUDENT members.

Real-World Experience

Internship is an important element of our Department’s programmes. Over 1,000 students have gained important experience during their Internships at leading organisations in Hong Kong and Mainland China.  Our students can join as interns in companies such as Li & Fung, TNT Express, DHL, Kerry Logistics, MTR, HSBC, Bank of China, Hong Kong Disneyland, and China South City (Shenzhen). This allows our students to apply useful knowledge learnt from a classroom setting, to real-life business situations and further their efforts in gaining life experience and employment.

Academic & Industry Support

Our Programmes benefit from the knowledge and wisdom of world-renowned professors and industry experts who have served as our Programme Advisors. We are also well supported by our industry partners including top management of leading companies and top officials of professional associations and institutes in the field, who have served as Industry Advisors providing us with valuable advice on development of the programmes that meets industry needs. In addition, these industry experts have acted as valuable mentors under our Student Mentorship Scheme.

Scholarships

With the generous support from the donors and government funding, there are increasing scholarship opportunities at HSUHK. In the 2021/22 academic year, there were over 1400 scholarships and awards, with the total value of approximately HK$19 million, available to HSUHK students. Most scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, while some are based on non-academic achievement and/or for exchange and internship as specified by the individual donor.

Student Exchange Opportunities

HSUHK established a student exchange programme partnership with institutions around the world such as HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, Albright College and Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.  As student exchange is increasingly seen as valuable for students, research, and the global community at large, we are committed to engaging with student exchange into the future.

Good Career Prospect

Our graduates work in the sectors such as the four largest professional services networks, transport & logistics, trading & retailing, top consulting firms and leading banks. This indicates great future career prospects for graduates gaining employment and building valuable connections inside and beyond these industry sectors.
