The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Logistics and Transportation Division (HKIE LTD) organised The HKIE LTD Best Students Papers Awards 2019 for outstanding students studying logistics, engineering or supply chain management degree programmes in Hong Kong to promote innovative ideas and research in the design and implementation of sustainable logistics and transportation systems in the territory.

The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers – Logistics and Transport Division (HKIE-LTD) and Virtual Reality Centre (VRC) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) jointly organised a webinar and online VR sharing tour on 7 May 2020.

“Seminar on COVID-19 Outbreak: Impact on Supply Chain and Logistics-Business, Operations, Legal and Cyber-Security Risk” jointly organised by The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and The Hong Kong University, was held on 23 April 2020.

“Seminar on Challenges and Opportunities of Arbitration and Mediation in Hong Kong” jointly organised by The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and The Hong Kong University, was held on 5 March 2020.

In the 2019/20 academic year, the first mentor-mentee meeting was held on 11 January 2020. All mentees attended this meeting and had a better understanding of the Scheme and met with their mentors for the first time.

Three BBA (Honours) in Supply Chain Management students were awarded in the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Best Student Awards 2019. At the CIPS Best Student Awards presentation ceremony held on 2 Nov 2019, Ms LAM Gladys and HO Cheuk Kiu received the Certificate of Merit; Mr WONG Ka Ho received the Certificate of Appreciation.

A visit to DHL Central Asia Hub has been carried out on 1 November 2019 (Friday). The centre has been completed on 2004. It has a state-of-the-art $100 million facility is the largest dedicated air express cargo center in the region, capable of handling up to 440 tonnes of air express cargo per day.

Two visits to the Hongkong International Terminals Limited (HIT) have been organised on 8 October 2019 (Tuesday) and 11 October 2019 (Friday). HIT is one of the ports in Hutchison Ports with global network of port and logistics operations.

A visit to Modern Terminals Limited (MTL) in Kwai Chung has been organised on 10 October 2019 (Thursday). MTL operates container terminals at Kwai Tsing Container Port as well as other locations, e.g. DaChan Bay Terminals, Shekou Container Terminals and Chiwan Container Terminal.

A Whisky Tasting Evening was held on the 19th September 2019. There were 40 alumni, current students, academic staff, mentors and internship supervisors who joined the event.
